‘Ganguly invitedme to IPL but..’,Ramiz Raja reveals big statement.- Chairman of PCB Ramiz Raja has made a big revelation during the press confrence. Ramiz Raja revealed that Sourav Ganguly invited him to IPL but couldn’t due to possible reaction from fans.
As the political relations between the two neighbours are not good, the bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan is on a halt.
It has been more than nine years now since the two nations has played bilateral series. Last time Pakistan toured India in 2012-13 and played two T20s and three ODIs. Since then the two teams have not played any bilateral cricket between themselves.
However, India and Pakistan cricket is restricted to big tournaments like World Cup and Champions Trophy. Last the two teams faced each other in T20 World Cup 2021, where India was defeated by 10 wickets. Openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan played an unbeated match winning innings in that T20.
Further, Ramiz Raja had suggested a four nation series including India, Pakistan, England and Australia. But was rejected by BCCI.
Ramiz told that he had many conversations with the BCCI president Ganguly regarding the restoration of bilateral cricket between India and Pakistan.
He said that Ganguly had invited me twice to IPL. However, I was confused whether to accept the invitation or not. ” If I went there, fans would not spare me”, Ramiz Raja said.
Pakistan has a positive future in cricket as we are hosting 2025 Champions Trophy, Ramiz said to the reporters.
