Adil Rashid to perform Hajj, will miss India ODI series– Star legspinner of England Adil Rashid was sanctioned leave by England Cricket Board to perform Hajj this year. As he will leave to Saudi Arabia, he will miss ODI series vs India.
Adil Rashid is a Muslim and has decided to go Hajj. As per reports Adil Rashid had said earlier this year that it is right time for him to perform the Hajj at Meca. As such he was granted a leave on account of prilgrimage by ECB (England Cricket Board).
He has already left to the Meca on Saturday and will hopefully return in mid july this year. He would be then availablle for ODI series against South Africa.
In Islam it is compulsory for every Muslim, if financially capable, to perform Hajj once in a life time. However, if one has not enough money or other means to go to Hajj, he need not to.
Talking to ESPNcricinfo, Adil Rashid said that he had been waiting for it but could not find the appropriate time. This year I thought I should do it, Rashid said.
England team is scheduled to play six limited ovets match against India starting from 07 July. Owing to his prilgrimage, Rashid will miss all the six games of cricket.

Praising skipper E. Morgan and his team mates, Rashid said that all team members respect Muslim faith. He said that Morgan has created a supportive environment in the team for Muslim players like him ( Adil Rashid), Moen Ali and Saqib Mahmood. Further all team mates has began to understand our faith, Rashid said.
Owing to Rashid’s absence, Matt Parkinson might be called to the national side to play against India.
